Nick Lowe’s The Rose Of England remains a highly engaging and often overlooked album. The title track tells a World War I-era tale and features a trademark Lowe hook. Nick took a huge swing at the charts, recording his version (previously recorded by Dave Edmunds) of his classic “I Knew The Bride” with pal Huey Lewis producing and his band the News providing the track. Fame and fortune may not have followed, but a solid batch of songs including covers of pals John Hiatt (“She Don’t Love Nobody”) and Elvis Costello (“Indoor Fireworks”) rubbed shoulders with Nick’s originals.

The classic line-up of the Quill, who made the records Silver Haze, Voodoo Caravan and Hooray! It´s A Deathtrip has reunited. Lead singer Magnus Ekwall (Ayreon) is back behind the mic and together with the dynamic interplay between drummer Jolle Atlagic (Hanoi Rocks, Electric Boys, Firebird), guitarist Christian Carlsson and bassist Roger Nilsson (Spiritual Beggars, Firebird) it is a unique foursome. The band has kept the ‘70s feel intact, recording the new songs in the studio. In spite of the ‘70s strains, the Quills music lives and breathes 2017.

Recorded in an 1800s era estate deep in the Pennsylvania woods Planetary Space Child is the highly-anticipated new LP from Philadelphia's Ruby The Hatchet. The album showcases richly layered songs that unite heavy, doomy psychedelia with acid rock, proto-prog and melodic, hypnotic song craft. Boasting a bouncy creepiness, weighty sonic palette and dark, lush layers of experimentation, the album's bulk forges a hypnotic, head-nodding nirvana while electric vocalist Jillian Taylor spins haunting tales of dreams and death. With Planetary Space Child, it's clear that Ruby The Hatchet aren't just staying present or looking ahead; they're simply breaking away. LP first pressing on clear midnight blue vinyl.

Blues is not for the faint-hearted. Since the genre first drew breath, its greatest practitioners have embraced the darkness, spinning tales of hardship and death, hellhounds and devilry. If the sleeve of Witchy Feelin’ suggests that Kim Simmonds, too, has a tendency towards the macabre, then Savoy Brown’s iconic leader is happy to confirm it. “Blues has always dealt with themes of the Devil, witchcraft and so forth, and I’ve always written along those lines. At least three of the songs on Witchy Feelin’ have that hoodoo vibe…”

On his new album Birds, Grammy®-nominated artist Seth Glier captures a determined strength born from hardship – including the passing of his autistic brother – through songs enveloped by a warm, slightly offbeat sense of hope, humor, and a dogged belief in the human spirit. Co-produced by Glier, Steve Lunt (Cyndi Lauper) and mixed by Grammy® winner Dave Darlington (Herbie Hancock), Birds uniquely pushes the boundaries of contemporary indie pop by offering substantive songs that represent something greater than ourselves. These are songs that people will rally behind. Songs that shape lives, change views, invite dialogue. But most of all: songs that give us a reason for being.
